Helpful Information & FAQ

Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about my builds, downloads, custom content, and usage.
If something is still unclear after reading this page, feel free to reach out – I’ll always try to help where I can.

About my Builds

  • No. I don’t create custom content myself. All CC used in my builds is created by many talented creators. If you download a CC folder from me, you’ll notice that everything is clearly organized and sorted by creator name.

  • I use GShade, which is very similar to ReShade but runs a bit smoother in my game.
I use several presets (mainly inspired by intramoon), but I adjust and modify almost all of them to fit my own style and lighting.

  • My focus is on atmosphere, realism, and a lived-in feeling.
I design spaces to feel like real places with stories, depth, and personality. That’s why many of my builds rely on detailed custom content to achieve that look and mood.

  • All my builds are designed with CC in mind. You can technically place them without CC, but they won’t look like the screenshots and may feel very empty or incomplete. If you prefer CC-free gameplay, my builds might not be the best fit for you.

Downloads & Installation

  • If you’re subscribed to a Patreon tier that includes build access or purchase a build via my website, you’ll receive the tray files only. Patreon builds are usually sent via private message with a personal one-time download link.

  • Sending tray files individually allows me to keep track of access, respect creator terms, and keep everything fair and secure.
It also gives my Patrons the freedom to choose which build they want, instead of being limited to only the current release of the month. You’re not tied to a specific timeframe — you can decide at your own pace which builds fit your save best.

Because these are digital products, download links may expire. I always recommend saving a backup copy after downloading.

  • To recreate the build exactly as shown in the screenshots, you usually need three things:

    1. the tray files

    2. the CC folder

    3. the required CC list

Sometimes you’ll also find a screenshot CC list with optional items that help recreate the atmosphere but aren’t strictly necessary.

  • Most of the time, this happens when not all custom content (CC) was downloaded.
Please also check whether you own all required EA packs listed in the description. Missing packs can affect doors, windows, stairs, or even entire rooms.

In some cases — especially with apartments or single-room builds — certain decorative objects without a footprint may not be saved correctly by the game. This usually only affects very small details, such as a pillow or a minor decorative item, and does not impact the functionality of the build.

If something feels noticeably off or many objects are missing, feel free to reach out and I’ll gladly take a look.

  • If you notice colorful objects or items with question marks, this usually means that a texture file is missing.
Some CC creators build their sets in a specific way: one main object contains the texture file, while other objects in the same set are technically linked to it. If that main object isn’t installed, the connected objects can’t find their texture and will appear colorful in-game.
This can happen even if the house itself doesn’t use the main object directly. Since I only include CC that is actually placed in the build, the texture base object might not be part of the download — which can cause this visual issue.

    How to fix it:
Simply click on the colorful object in-game, check the name of the CC set, and download or redownload the full set from the original creator. Once the missing texture file is installed, the object will display correctly.
This is not a bug or a broken build — it’s just how some CC sets are structured.

  • After downloading and unzipping all files, place the CC files into your Mods folder and the tray files into your Tray folder.
Start the game, enable custom content, activate the cheat bb.moveobjects, and make sure “Include Custom Content” is enabled in your library filters before placing the lot.

Older Builds & Updates

  • All builds are tested at the time of release. However, The Sims 4 receives frequent updates, and CC-heavy builds are especially affected by broken or outdated custom content over time.

With a large catalogue of builds, ongoing new releases, family life, and limited time, it isn’t always possible to keep every older build perfectly updated forever. This doesn’t mean the builds are abandoned — it simply reflects realistic limits.

If you notice that many CC links of a specific build are no longer working, please feel free to message me. I’m always happy to take a look and update what I reasonably can.

I’m always happy to take a look and update what I reasonably can.

  • Some older builds have been released for free on CurseForge.
These builds are no longer actively updated or supported. If something doesn’t work there, unfortunately I’m not able to provide fixes or updates.

Usage & Terms

  • Yes, absolutely. I love seeing my builds used in screenshots, stories, and videos.
Please always credit katesimblr and tag me when possible.

  • Yes. You may use my builds in monetized content such as YouTube videos, TikTok, Twitch streams, or storytelling projects.
The only requirement is clear credit and proper attribution.

  • Reuploading tray files or CC breaks creator terms and disrespects the time and work behind each build.
You’re welcome to modify builds for personal gameplay, but sharing the files themselves is not permitted.

Support & Help

  • First, double-check that all required CC and packs are installed correctly.
If issues persist, feel free to message me with details – I’ll always try to help within realistic boundaries.

  • No. Due to the digital nature of tray files and downloads, all purchases and memberships are non-refundable.

  • I’ve created guides and helpful resources inside my CC Care Club, where you’ll find tips on CC management, broken mods, updates after patches, and more.
